What to do if you are suffering racial or sexual harassment where you are living


Sexual & racial harassment are forms of unlawful discrimination. If you believe that you may be suffering harassment of any form this must be reported.

Lexton London defines sexual/racial harassment as:

Unwanted behaviour of a sexual or racist nature which is not welcomed and which is offensive to the recipient. It relates to behaviour that is targeted, deliberate and continuing.

It may include one and/or more of the following:

Abusive, threatening or insulting behaviour – including racist abuse

  • Threats of violence
  • Physical assault
  • Vandalism to property
  • Arson or attempted arson
  • Racist or abusive graffiti
  • Repeated and unfounded complaints against another resident or group of residents
  • Activities to make a residents stay in a property impossible
  • Abusive telephone calls
  • Deliberate & persistent noise
  • Placing excrement, rubbish or offensive materials at or near a tenants home.

If you feel that you are being subjected to any of the above please ensure that you contact the office immediately so that appropriate action can be taken.

All reports will be treated in strictest confidence and according to our confidentiality policy guidelines.

Tenants who are reported for harassment:

Lexton London expects its tenants to abide by the terms and conditions of their tenancy agreement in relation to anti social behaviour and harassment. These clauses are as follows and are contained within your tenancy agreement:

Please note that if you are evicted because of your behaviour, you may be found intentionally homeless if you make an application for re-housing to the council. Under these circumstances the council will have no duty to re-house you.
